DURHAM –The Duke baseball team concludes a five-game road swing on Tuesday as the Blue Devils travel to Greenville, N.C., to face East Carolina.
LEADING OFF
Duke closes out its five-game road swing at East Carolina on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Lewis Field at Clark-LeClair Stadium. The Blue Devils enter the series with an all-time record of 14-42 against the Pirates, including a mark of 6-24 on the road. The two teams met earlier this season, as East Carolina took the game in Durham, 12-2. Head coach Chris Pollard, in his 10th season at Duke, holds a 1-9 record against the Pirates while at Duke. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. In addition, Chris Edwards will broadcast on the Varsity Network app. Following the midweek action, Duke hosts NC State over the weekend for its penultimate ACC series of the season.

OFFENSE HOT IN ATLANTA
Duke outscored the nation's third-ranked offense of Georgia Tech, tallying 34 runs in the series win in Atlanta. Duke's 34 runs and 10 home runs were the most in an ACC series under head coach Chris Pollard. It's 43 hits were the most in a conference series since against Virginia in 2017. Duke hit .368 with a 1.181 OPS in the series. Senior RJ Schreck and juniorGraham Pauley led the way, combining to go 13-for-26 with two doubles, four home runs, 16 RBIs and five walks to just three strikeouts.
MOONEY COMING UP
Freshman Alex Mooney had a lot of buzz around him entering the 2022 season and is coming into his own on the field. Through the first 31 games of the season Mooney was batting .226 with a .321 on-base average. In the last 15 games, Mooney has solidified as the leadoff batter and is slashing .417/.545/.517 with four stolen bases. Mooney has been excellent at reaching base, drawing 14 walks and three hit by pitches to just 10 strikeouts. Most recently, he went 5-for-8 with two walks in a doubleheader at Pittsburgh, seeing 51 pitches on the day.
VOTE FOR RJ
Senior RJ Schreck was named one of 10 finalists nationally for the 2022 Senior CLASS Award. The award recognizes one senior that has notable achievements in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. The finalists were chosen by a committee, and the winner will be determined by a fan, media and head coaches' vote.
STORM'S BIG WEEKEND
Sophomore Luke Storm has shown huge strides of development over the year. The switch-hitter had an excellent weekend at the plate at Pittsburgh, finishing 6-for-11 with a double, a home run and four RBIs. He went 4-for-6 with runners on base. Storm is one of two Blue Devils to hold a .300+ batting average in ACC play this seaosn (.303), joining senior RJ Schreck (.344).
ACC SERIES STRIKEOUTS
Duke continues to be one of the top pitching staffs in the country when it comes to strikeouts. The Blue Devils fanned No. 10 Notre Dame 39 times in a three-game sweep. The 39 K's were the fifth-most by a Duke team in an ACC weekend since 2015. Also in the series, Duke's defense was stellar as it allowed just three leadoff batters to reach base in 29 opportunities.

MOONEY MONEY HITS
Despite batting in the leadoff spot, freshman Alex Mooney continues to lead Duke in RBIs this season. The Rochester Hills, Mich., native and everyday shortstop boasts 25 RBIs on the season and holds a team-leading .333 batting average with runners in scoring position. He also leads the team in multi-RBI games with five.
LOPER CRUCIAL IN ND SERIES
SeniorJimmy Loper was crucial for the Blue Devils in the ACC series sweep over Notre Dame. Loper entered the contest with the tying runner at the plate in the first game of the series and got Duke out of the jam. The next day, Loper extended to keep the game tied and in extra innings, setting up the walk-off win for Duke. Loper allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out 11 in 5.1 scoreless innings of work. He earned a save and a win.
DOUBLE DOWN
Duke holds 80 doubles this season. JuniorGraham Pauley leads the team with 14, ranking tied for eighth in the conference. JuniorChad Knight recorded three doubles against UMass Lowell on March 9 to become the first Blue Devil to hit three in a single game since March 2016.
